Specialty Syndicates
In addition to the classic
leagues that are the core of the Zealots Field experience, we offer several
Specialty Leagues. These leagues offer unique rules and give our members
the chance to take part in other leagues within the Zealots Empire – each
new Zealot may belong to only one classic league, but there is no limit on
the number of specialty leagues he or she may join, depending on availability and
the approval of the specialty league Commissioners and Czars. The specialty
syndicates that currently exist within Zealots Field are Lombardi, Thorpe,
Halas,
Hinkle, Trafton, and our Laboratory, where new experimental leagues are tried out.

|
Lombardi was one of our
first specialty syndicates, created shortly after Zealots Field came
into existence. It is overseen by Czar Allen "Steelers in 2" McNight, who was
one of the founding members of the first league within it.
Lombardi is made
up of our auction and contract leagues, and consists of ZFAC-I through
ZFAC-VI.
These leagues add unique fantasy financial constraints to the traditional
Zealots Field dynasty leagues, where each owner must manage contracts, extensions,
salary caps, performance bonuses, and extensive free agency bidding. These
leagues have proven to be very popular, and at least one new league has been
added every year – many Zealots find the added challenge makes for one of
the most in-depth dynasty fantasy football experiences possible. Lombardi is
named after the famous Green Bay Packer coach,
Vince Lombardi. |

Thorpe Syndicate is another of our first specialty syndicates, created
shortly after Zealots Field began in 2003. It is overseen by Czar Dave "Golden Knight" Huddleson, and consists of KCFA-1 through KCFA-3. These leagues aim to
bring the familiar NFL fantasy football experience to the college game, and
consist of 18 teams, all who pick a “home team” from one of the NCAA
division I-A teams. The teams are made up of college dynasty rosters of 40
players, using players from their home teams and the other NCAA div I-A
teams. For college football fans, these leagues offer a fun and challenging
way to mix fantasy football with the college game.
Thorpe Syndicate is named
after
Jim Thorpe, famed Olympian and early NFL star. |

Halas Syndicate is one of our more recent specialty syndicates, having
formed in 2005.
Halas leagues are made up
Maximus leagues, dynasty leagues
with a unique Roman Gladiator twist – not only does each team adopt a Roman
name, but in true Gladiator fashion, free agency adds a fun “raid”, where
each team gets to take players off the rosters of their opponents.
Halas rules also expand the traditional Zealots Field rosters, separating DL into both
DT and DE, DB into both CB and S, and adding FB and head coach. Halas
consists of Maximus I through Maximus VI, and is overseen by Czar Mike "SuperRam" Dumas
.
Halas is named after famed Bears founder, coach, and owner
George Halas. |

Hinkle Syndicate is
another recent addition to Zealots field, having formed in 2005.
Hinkle is a collection of
specialty leagues, which include Schizo, Nemesis, and Typhon
leagues.
-
Schizo leagues include 40-teams each and use
special rules that allow 3 teams in each league to own the same NFL
player. Schizo leagues include expanded roster sizes, as well as
scheduling twists where each team plays a double-header against two
other teams in the same week.
-
Nemesis leagues include 20-teams each, and
use special rules that allow 2 teams in each league to own the same
NFL player. To own a team in a Nemesis league, a Zealot must be the
commissioner of a classic league in Zealots Field.
-
Typhon leagues are new to Zealots Field, and
when fully developed will have 100 teams in each league. In Typhon
leagues, rosters are only 25 players deep with team defenses instead
of the independent defensive players used in other leagues at
Zealots Field. Additionally, Typhon includes some scheduling twists,
where 10-team conferences battle amongst themselves for 9 weeks of
the season. In week 10 and 11 of the season, Typhon leagues play
conference playoff games, with the winner moving on. There is yet
one more twist to Typhon leagues, which is conference playoff
winners must draft a new team in week 11 before battling it out to
be the champion.
Hinkle is led by Czar
Kevin “ZPackerKev” Barry, and is named after Green Bay
Packer star
Clark Hinkle. |

Trafton Syndicate is the
newest syndicate in Zealots Field.
Trafton Syndicate consists of
Guillotine Leagues, which are 10-team dynasty leagues that offer the
unique twist of forced roster cuts. In Guillotine Leagues, each
owner must cut 2 players per week throughout the season, as well as
one agonizing final cut of the top player at each of the 7 different
roster positions after the championship. This brutality forces
owners to draft depth and makes the annual 33-round draft more
exciting as it includes both rookies and top NFL veterans.
Trafton is led by Czar Rob Militzer and is named after
legendary Chicago Bear,
George Trafton. |
